After municipal water supplies were shut off in 2008, Harare residents formed a queue by leaving containers on the roadside while awaiting the arrival of a water truck. Sekuru Chigamba describes 2008 as a terrible year, and explains Zimbabwe’s suffering during this time as a result of its failure to hold ceremonies of national reconciliation immediately after Independence, as advocated by religious leaders such as VaMutumwa.
