According to what I heard, Murenga came from the north.I believe he came from somewhere around Iraq or Iran. He left there together with his family, with his children. So in his place of origin, he had the name Soko. He was called Soko.
So after leaving, he eventually arrived in Egypt. When he entered Egypt, the Egyptians tried to fight him. As he was a powerful person, he wanted to protect his family. He thought perhaps he children would be killed.
So that is when he leaped up. There was an Egyptian mounted on a camel, holding a white spear. So Murenga leaped up, wrested the spear away, and began to fight the Egyptians.
Then all the Egyptians ran away, crying, “This person is God himself!” So there they say “Murenga,” meaning “God.” So they said, “This person is God. He is exceedingly powerful.” So that name came from the Egyptians. His children gave him the name Pfumojena, or “White Spear.” They called him Pfumojena.
So after they had given him the name Pfumojena, he departed from there. Once he left, he began migrating south, coming this way. So they left there. But he never arrived in Guniuswa, in Tanganyika. He died on the way, before they had arrived. Murenga’s children are the ones who made it to Guniuswa.
